We received a large folder of paperwork (the application) when we registered at the informational meeting (4/1) with Children’s Home Society and family Services.
Last weekend, I decided that it was time to complete it! :)
Now we are getting started with all the fun red tape and hoop jumping that goes along with the adoption process. YIPPEE!!! I never expected to be excited about filling out paperwork!
After several hours of reading all the fine print, writing in all our basic personal info, and then we got to sign tons of releases to everything - so people get to view all our once private information. I was very surprised that none of those papers asked anything about our finances or bank account info… Well, they want our taxes so… I guess they asked for it… At least I don’t have to worry about our bank acct numbers being posted on the web or sent off to Peru so as of now; I don’t have to worry about identity theft. YET! ***YIPPEE the sequel***
We still need our referrals to be sent in and our physician forms stating we are in good health. We are working on both of those.
I was amazed by the information they wanted. They even want to know what grade, junior, and high-school our child will go to and if they will take the bus or we will drive them. YIKES! I wasn’t expecting to having to pick the school our child would go to before our toddler arrives.
Most of the paperwork is completed. I just need to copy a couple things.
We are planning on mailing the application with the $500 check by the end of next week.
Then we wait 4-6 weeks while they process it.. YIPPEE the trilogy!
Once it’s processed they contact us and we get signed up to meet with our social worker and to go to pre-adoption classes (PAC).. We pay $2300 for this and that starts our Home-study.
YIPPEE the…. Quad?
