Monkeys and Outrageous Green paint – the reality October 5, 2009

The babies/kids room painting is almost completed.  I was shocked at how quickly I got it done.  I thought it would take me all day to paint a wall or even half the room but in a short 2 hours I had over half the room painted.    Painting is so much easier when you attach a broom handle to the roller and just attack the walls with paint.    I had an edger tool also that I didn’t love that did most of the edging, it was much faster than brush painting it all but I still found it frustrating and can’t imagine what the ceiling and baseboards would have looked like if I hadn’t taped/covered them all.  In theory with this edger tool I shouldn’t have had to do that but I’m glad I did.

We purchased a color called Outrageous Green which truly lives up to its name.   It is very bright and fun.  Perfect for a babies/kids room.  It’s almost overwhelmingly bright but once we get the curtains and art back up and some furniture it will tone it down just a bit..   WE LOVE IT!

baby roomWe will still eventually be painting a mural on one of the walls and need all the kids furniture but wanted to get started and have it painted and looking more kid friendly for our dossier pictures.  Totally not required but it makes me feel better that we are doing everything we can to put our best foot forward.

After another 4 hours of sitting in front of my embroidery/sewing machine I finished one panel of the curtains for the baby room.

The pictures are not the best but you can get the idea.

Wow, you are talented! The curtains look fabulous!

I’m stuck wondering what in the world to do for the kids’ room. It’s awkwardly shaped and I don’t know how I’m going to lay out the furniture. Plus it’s so difficult to decorate not knowing how old the kids are and their genders…HELP!
