The babies/kids room painting is almost completed. I was shocked at how quickly I got it done. I thought it would take me all day to paint a wall or even half the room but in a short 2 hours I had over half the room painted. Painting is so much easier when you attach a broom handle to the roller and just attack the walls with paint. I had an edger tool also that I didn’t love that did most of the edging, it was much faster than brush painting it all but I still found it frustrating and can’t imagine what the ceiling and baseboards would have looked like if I hadn’t taped/covered them all. In theory with this edger tool I shouldn’t have had to do that but I’m glad I did.
We purchased a color called Outrageous Green which truly lives up to its name. It is very bright and fun. Perfect for a babies/kids room. It’s almost overwhelmingly bright but once we get the curtains and art back up and some furniture it will tone it down just a bit.. WE LOVE IT!
We will still eventually be painting a mural on one of the walls and need all the kids furniture but wanted to get started and have it painted and looking more kid friendly for our dossier pictures. Totally not required but it makes me feel better that we are doing everything we can to put our best foot forward.
After another 4 hours of sitting in front of my embroidery/sewing machine I finished one panel of the curtains for the baby room.
The pictures are not the best but you can get the idea.

I purchased a new sewing machine that has amazing embroidery abilities. I also invested in a monkey embroidery CD with 33 different monkeys just waiting for me to embroider them. Above is the sample monkey I embroidered on a cloth diaper a couple weeks ago. It is 5″ x 7″ and took my machine almost two hours to embroider.
The plan is to embroider a bunch of monkeys on some curtains I purchased for our children’s room and paint the walls a coordinating green. I doubt we will be able to get this completed this weekend. But I am sure going to try.
It’s fun to finally be able to prepare. We need to take some pictures of the house and the children’s room for our dossier. The room doesn’t need to be completed, but I would like to show that we have at least started preparing for them.

The Fourth of July is tomorrow. Everyone seems to have plans all day but this year it sounds like ours will be low key. Which is fine as we have been so busy the adoption, work, our new Cyberpoo, and the new Sew Cuddly Blankets by Tucker Creations.
I’m going to be working on making blankets tonight and tomorrow. The Esty site (a place for homemade products to be sold) for Tucker Creations and the new Sew Cuddly Blankets I have been making is almost finished. I just have to post items for sale – I will soon. I put the link in the top post under the inchworm, it can also be found in the blogroll to the right.
Tomorrow night we are going to dinner (or BBQ) with my mom then go see fireworks. It will be great after a day of cutting, ironing, and sewing to get outside and take in the holiday atmosphere.

Now that summer is here I can’t walk out my door without seeing one of those kiddie inflatable pools on at least two of our neighbors yards with their children laughing and playing. It looks like a lot of fun, but I think if Jason and I put a inflatable pool in our yard and started playing in it wouldn’t go over so well.
La Semana – Latin Culture Camp
I really wanted to volunteer at the Latin Culture Camp that isn’t far from our house this summer but it’s too late. Summer just snuck up on me this year. The last three months of been crazy, with the mortgage boom but, now we are just started to slow down so we can enjoy summer. Yippee! That means more bicycle rides. Last summer we rode our bikes all over town and found some nice bike paths. We absolutely love it and feel like kids again. Just grab the bikes and a couple bucks to buy a beverage and we are gone for the afternoon! Hopefully we will get a ride or two in on Sunday!
Just a quick note as I am having a crazy day.
I received an email this morning for Alex at Threads of Hope and they have agreed to send us their bracelets for us to sell at our craft fairs! I love that this helps families in the Philippians and it will help us with adoption expenses.
We send 60% of proceeds back to Threads of Hope as we sell the bracelets. I am excited to be a part of this effort to help families in the Philippians.
We are hoping to have the bracelets in time for our 11/22 craft fair in Prior Lake. I don’t think we will have them for the one this weekend.
Here is their website that shows photos of the bracelets.

We finally traded in my 9 year old Nissan Citrus that I hated and got a new reliable car.
Introducing our newest addition my 2008 Honda Civic LX in Black. I love it! I’m finally in a car I love and my 2 hour drive just doesn’t feel that bad anymore. AND!!! I get better gas mileage! Even my almost freakishly tall hubby can sit comfortably in the backseat, so we know whatever children we have will enjoy it too. (I couldn’t get photo’s to post so here is a link)

We bought my car three weeks ago today. I’m still really mad at Walser Honda and will be mailing off a letter soon about our experience but in the end… I LOVE MY CAR! I also love that I don’t have to worry about it breaking down (like my old car) and the payments are very reasonable… Just a win win situation.
Jason’s car is a 2000 accord but still in perfect condition and will probably run another 100K miles.
We are now a true happy Honda family… Bring on the cheese factor.. but it’s true..
